House Rules

To make the Pencilhead’s Kids Club website (PKC) fun for everyone, here are some rules on how to participate.

Within PKC, moderators (mods) read all posts before they are published and delete anything that break the rules. These rules are super important i.e. we haven’t just made them up to be mean. They make sure that everyone stays safe and treats each other with respect.

  1. Even when you disagree with someone, don't be rude or unpleasant... after all, you don't like it when people are rude to you.

  2. Don't pick on other people. Every person has the right to feel safe from bullying – and that includes being safe from bullying in online spaces.

  3. Don't post any information that identifies you (e.g. phone number, full name, your home address, email address, web addresses, references to any other online profiles or pages you may have, the name of your school, or even sport clubs or other activities you participate in.)

  4. Use an "undercover" username instead of your real name – and make sure that your undercover name is not inappropriate, offensive or otherwise in breach of the BWE's Conditions of Use

  5. Within PKC, be wary of friending members you do not know. If in doubt, do not accept a friend request if you're not sure who it has come from.

  6. If you want to check out other BWE websites that aren't PKC, please get your parent or carer's permission first, because going to new places online is just like going to new places in the real world... your parents should always know where you're hanging out.

These are some golden rules to remember about going online in general too:

  1. Don't arrange to meet people from online in the real world. Remember, even though you may have been chatting online, you are still chatting to strangers and the same rules about strangers apply.

  2. NEVER, EVER go with a stranger, even if they say they know you from online, and immediately TELL YOUR PARENT OR CARER.
